Dialog in the Dark

Dialog in the Dark is a groundbreaking new Exhibition where blind or visually-impaired guides take your group on what the promoters hype as "a life-changing journey."

There were just four of us who took the challenge, and after being given canes, we were led through a series of fully-darkened galleries that replicate everyday environments like parks, fruit markets, crossing roads, and restaurants.

I was amazed as I could feel my hearing definitely become more acute as traveled deeper, and was surprised that I coped as well as I did.

The final stage where you are told to head towards the light sent shivers up my spine as my vision slowly came back.

I then started to feel quite sad as we walked away -- we were able to continue on with our lives into a beautiful January evening while I watched our guide head out, continuing on with the darkness...

Apparently more than five million people worldwide have learned to “see” in a completely new way at the Dialog in the Dark exhibits. While it was quite expensive at 20 bucks for the hour, it was still a worthwhile experience.
